The lake dam between Rapperswil and Hurden is one of the most beautiful places for me to photograph in my region. Especially in the summer I am often on tour here. On pleasant evenings, approximately an hour before the golden hour, I like to take a short train ride from my home to Rapperswil.
The Klöntal, with its stunning lake of the same name, is a true gem in the canton of Glarus. It's hard to believe that such a breathtaking location is just a short two-hour drive from Zurich. As a photographer, I can confidently say that Lake Klöntal is one of the best photo locations in all of Switzerland.
The space around the river Limmat in Zurich's old town is rich in contemporary witnesses of past epochs. In the evening, historically important buildings and churches are illuminated, but the riverbanks and old town facades remain dark so as not to fading their charm and intimacy.
My name is Simon and photography has interested me more and more since a few years and became the hobby I love to spend my free time with.
Photography in nature or even in a city is for me the ideal balance to my professional life. For me, it’s about discovering my environment and documenting what I see. I also like to work on the photos in Lightroom when I get back home, critically reviewing what worked and what didn’t to figure out how to do it better in the future. Even if a photo project goes completely wrong, at least the realization of what can be done better remains.
Photography is a journey to hell and back where you find a little piece of heaven.
On this website I would like to show my successes but also my failures. Even if the failure still ends in something beautiful, I still failed because I could not realize my plan that day as I wanted. But what does it matter, then the project just comes back on my bucket list.
I was never unhappy after a day out in nature with my camera. Since this is my hobby, I have no pressure to provide myself the perfect photo that day. Nature does not respect my plan and so I have to be flexible. I always shoot as many photos as possible of many different things I see. In the evening is then always something I like even if I could not realize the initial project.
Everything under the sun, literally, is something you can photograph. And the sheer volume of options can be overwhelming. Over time I have found out what genres I am most interested in.
